SCPPC-Seed Certification: Registration of seed production crops and certification of produced seeds of Rice, Field Crops and Vegetables

Eligibility
any seed producers who needs to produce certified seeds after purchasing basic seeds from the Department of Agriculture

Procedure of applying and registration
request from DD (SCS) by letter or email with detail information (name, address, contact information, location, crop, variety, seed class, lot no., quantity of seeds, extent of land, date of planting, etc) with copy to regional SCS offices.
After approval given by DD (SCS), regional SCS staff will visit the field and check the basic requirements. If the producer is eligible for registration, registration will be done by a SCS officer. Inspection visits (2-3) will be carried out after registration. Final inspection at maturity stage decides the acceptance of the crop as a seed production cultivation.
After harvesting, a sample will be drawn for quality testing at a seed testing laboratory of SCS. Only approved seed lots are released as certified seeds with relevant SCS certified labels.

Basic requirements needed
(i) minimum extent (1acer for paddy, 1 acre for potato, acre for Field crops, acre for vegetables)
(ii) proof of origin (original label of basic seed lot)
(iii) healthy crop conditions and isolated distance from other varieties and true varietal characters
(iv) for potato: last 2 year should be free from any cultivation of solanesae family crop such as tomato, brinjal, chilli; submit information on variety, seed class, basic seeds and sketch of the land with boundaries; land elevation should be about 4500 feet from sea level and less than 40% land slop

for vegetables Rs 400/ per -1 acre/season/Lot
for potato Rs 800/ per acre/season/Lot
