Benefit Schemes Available to ETF Members

All ETF benefits are availed to the active members of the Fund. “Active Member” is meant to be the employees on whose behalf contributions are made regularly.

I. Death Benefit Scheme

In the event of the death of a member, fifteen times the average salary earned by him during the preceding 6 months, subject to a maximum of Rs.100,000.00 will be granted. The application should be submitted within one year from the date of death.


II. Permanent Disability benefit Scheme


An amount equal to 24 times the average salary earned during the 6 months preceding the permanent disability will be granted subject to a maximum of Rs.200,000.00. The employment should cease as a result of the disability and the percentage of the disability should be more than 50%, which should be certified by a medical practitioner, appointed by the board. The application should submitted within 6 months of the cessation of employment as a result of the permanent disability.


III.Financial Assistance for Heart Surgery


Financial assistance will be provided subject to a limit of Rs.300,000.00 . The surgery may be performed in a local hospital or overseas. Applications can be submitted before surgery (if need letter of guarantee) or within 60 days from the date of discharge from hospital following surgery.


IV. Reimbursement of cost incurred of Intra-Ocular lenses


A sum of Rs.15000.00 per eye will be reimbursed for the cost borne for lenses in a cataract surgery. The application should be submitted within 60 days of discharge.


V. Award of Scholarships for children who pass the year 5 Scholarship Examination


Scholarships to the value of Rs.15,000.00 each will be awarded to 7,000 children of ETF members taking into consideration the marks obtained at the Year Five Scholarship Examination. Applications will be invited by press advertisements following the release of official results. Applications should be forwarded within the period specified by the Board.


VI.��� Kidney transplant Surgery Assistance Scheme


Financial assistance up to Rs.300,000.00 is granted under this scheme. The surgery can be performed either locally or overseas. The recipient of the kidney is eligible for benefits and the donor does not receive any payment whatsoever. Applications can be submitted before surgery (if need letter of guarantee) or within 60 days from the date of discharge form hospital following surgery.


VII.��� “Viyana”� Housing Loan Scheme


Loans are granted by National Development Bank PLC (NDB Bank) ranging from Rs.100,000.00 to Rs.2,500,000.00 . Once a loan is obtained a member is not entitled to claim a refund of contributions until the loan is settled in full. A five-year continuous membership is required and it is also necessary that a member has a specified fund balance to determine the amount of loan.


VIII.��� Reimbursement of hospitalization expenses “Shrama Suwa Rakawarana”


This benefit is granted for hospitalized treatment exceeding 48 hours. Expenses borne for hospitalized treatment at government and private hospitals registered with the ETF Board will be reimbursed, subject to and annual maximum of Rs.25,000.00 . The maximum that can be obtained within the service period is Rs.50,000.00 . The application should be submitted within 60 days of discharge.


IX.��� Year� Five Scholarships for children of ETF members who had to terminate employment due to permanent disability


In addition to present 9,000 scholarships, Year Five Scholarship are awarded to children of ETF members who had to terminate their employment due to permanent disability. This will be considered if such members’ children pass the Year Five Scholarship Examination within five years from the year in which the member became permanently disabled.


X.��� Educational grant for children of ETF members, who passed GCE A/L.


An educational grant to the value of Rs.12,000.00 each will be provided to 5,000 children of active members of the fund. Children will be selected based on the high marks obtained at the GCE (A/L) examination.
Application will be invited by press advertisements following the release for official results by the Department of Examinations. Duly completed applications should be forwarded within the period specified by the Board.
