Imports & Exports (Control) Act No, 1 of 1969 Application for License to Import Free Trade Samples

Procedure

Step 1: Applicant should obtain indent form from Head Clerk, Unit 01 (drugs).
Step 2: Applicant should submit 4 copies of filled indent form and 4 copies of proforma invoice with support documents.
Step 3: Unit 01 checks the indent forms and support documents
Step 4: License request is submitted to Import/Export controller for approval
Step 5: Import/Export Controller approves the free sample import license request.
Step 6: Applicant should pay the licensing Fee. (0.1% of invoice value) to the cashier
Step 7: Unit 01 prepares License using computer and submits it to the Assistant Controller for signature.
Step 8: Assistant Controller approves and signs the license
Step 9: 3 License is in triplicate. Original is to the importer and other two copies are kept in this department.

Note:

  • If the information submitted is incorrect, applicant should provide correct and missing information to the Unit 01.
  • If the Assistant Controller doesn’t approve the request, applicant should provide correct information.

Validity Time Line : Sample License is valid for 3 months

Costs Related to the Service

Cost : No cost involved in obtaining the application form

Fee : License Fee – 0.2% of the Invoice value

Penalties :
An additional fee will be charged from the offenders according to the license conditions.
Additional fees vary from case to case

Surcharge: No surcharges are involved in this service

Special Cases
If the Importation is done without a license a Goods Received License is issued with a penalty, by the Assistant Controller. Following documents are needed to obtain Good Received License

  • Approval letter from the relevant authority
