Extracts of Complaints for Minor Disputes

Step 1:The Complainant makes a complain at the Police station
Step 2: The Police officer evaluates the complaint and directs the complainer to the minor offence division.
Step 3: The Police Officer writes down the complaint and issues B form to the complainer.
Step 4: The Police Officer summons party(s) to the police station
Step 5: The Police Officer tries to solve the problem
Step 6: If problem not solved, the Police Officer (Minor Offence) directs problem to Mediation board
Step 7: Mediation board tries to solve the problem
Step 8: If problem not solved, the Mediation Board directs problem to the Court

Note 1:
If the problem could not be solved by the Mediation board, the respective board advices the complainer to go to the court.
Note 2: If complainer required a copy of complaint, he/she can give it according to the court order.

Qualification Criteria
The complainant should have evidence about the dispute.

Note: Disqualification Criteria
Any applicant who is not able to meet with above condition will be considered disqualified from obtaining the service.

Submission Procedure


Visit Police Station
The party(s) making complaint should appear in police station.

Submit a Complaint
The party making the complaint informs the police officer who in turn will write a statement in the complain book. The police will issue a receipt (B form) to the party.

Working Hours
Police Stations:
24 / 7 /365 days

Mediation board:
Saturdays – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Form Name: B form – Is a reference and a summary for complaint as well as it holds the reference of the book which was written at the police station.

There are no application forms available for this service

Note: The party concerned can request for an Extract of Complaint from the respective police station by making a payment of Rs.25.00 per page extracted.

Time Lines

Process Time

Depends on the complexity of the problem
Police Officer: If the police officer is successful in solving the problem, the process time is within a day.
Note: If problems are addressed to the Mediation Board and the Court the process time cannot be defined.

Cost related to the service
The complainer has to make a payment of Rs.25.00 for each page of the complaint extracted from the police station.

Fines and Surcharges
The police officers do not impose fines for false statements

Note: If a false complaint is made, the police will submit the complainer to court and the complainer is subjected to fines imposed by the Court.
