Agriculture Education for Public Officers

Selections will be made on the basis of awarding central scholarships on the marks scored at a competitive examination to be held by the Department of Agriculture for public officers of the following establishments.
i. Foremen and Conductors of the Department of Agriculture - 10 scholarships
ii. Agricultural Extension Workers of the Dept. of Agriculture - 30 scholarships
iii. Field Instructors of the Land Commissioners Department - 10 scholarships
iv.Technical Assistants of the Sugar cane Research Institute - 02 scholarships
v.Unit Managers and Field Assistants of the Sri Lanka
Mahaweli Authority - 18 scholarships
vi.Farm Conductors of the Department of Export Agriculture - 04 scholarships
vii. Field officers of the Coconut Cultivation Board - 05 scholarships
viii. Field Assistants of the Tea Small Holders Development
Authority - 03 scholarships
ix. Development officers of the Cashew Corporation - 02 scholarships
x. Research Sub Assistants of the Department of Agriculture - 05 scholarships
xi. Seed Technicians of the Department of Agriculture - 05 scholarships
xii. Bee controllers of the Department of Agriculture - 02 scholarships
xiii. Demonstrators of the Department of Agriculture - 02 scholarships
xiv. Agricultural Research and Production Assistants of the
Department Agrarian Development -30 scholarships

Eligibility
a) G.C.E. (O/L) with 06 subjects in not more than two sittings compulsorily with credit passes for the tree core subjects Sinhala / Tamil anguage, Mathematics and Science and also with credit passes for at least one of the two subjects Social Studies and Agriculture (thus having a total of 04 credits in all) At least passes in 05 of the above subjects and 03 credits should have been obtained in one sitting.
b) Candidates who wish to follow the course in the English medium should have a credit pass for English language at the G.C.E.(O/L) Examination.
ii. Age Shall be less than 45 years as on the date mentioned in the notification calling for tenders.
iii. Shall hold a permanent appointment in the Public Service duty confirmed in the appointment as on the date mentioned in the notification calling for applications.

Method of Selection

Candidate who score highest marks in each institute at a written examination of two question papers of one hour each namely General Intelligence and Agriculture to be conducted by the Department of Agriculture will be called for an interview at which selections will be mode after checking the originals of educational certificates and other qualifications.
The competitive examination for the candidates who possess basic qualifications will be held by the examination Division of the Department of Agriculture during the months of November to December.

i. The Department of Agriculture will send a notice calling for applications, to the abovementioned organizations in August or September each year.
ii. Applications should be sent duly prepared as mentioned in the notice.
iii. The examination fee is Rs. 250.00/-

Applications duty perfected in accordance with the specimen and instructions given in the notification and certified by the Head of the Institution should be sent by registered post to reach the address given in the notification before the closing date mentioned therein.
