Repurchase and Reverse Repurchase Agreements

Repurchase Agreements

The customers can lend their short term funds to Bank of Ceylon on re-purchase agreement under Treasury Bills/Bonds.

• Minimum Investment Amount – Rs. 5 Million.
• Rate of Interest -Prevailing market rate.
• Period of the investment -The customer can decide depending on his cash requirements.
  Eg. Overnight (i.e from today to tomorrow) 1week, 2weeks, 01month, 02 months etc.
• The bank will assign a treasury bill or a Treasury bond in the name of the investor for the tenor of the transaction as a security. So customer will receive a security for his lending amount.

Reverse Repurchase Agreements

The customer can borrow short term funds from the bank under reverse re- purchase agreement against Treasury Bills and Treasury Bonds

• Minimum Lending Amount– Rs. 5 Million.
• Rate of Interest-Prevailing market rate.
• Period-The customer can decide depending on his cash requirements.? Eg. Overnight(I.e from today to tomorrow),1 week,2weeks,1month,2 months etc.
• The customer will assign a treasury bill or a Treasury bond in the name of the bank for the tenor of the transaction as a security.
