For each residential child of a Child Development Center, a sum of Rs. 20/- per day is provided to the relevant Child Development Center as maintenance aid.

For each child, a sum of Rs. 100/- is provided per month to a Day Care Center as maintenance aid.

Basic Requirements needed to register a Child Development Center

1. Existence of a registered voluntary organization.
2. Existence of a Child Development Center, run by that organization.
3. Possession of a financial asset of at least Rs. 500,000/- by the organization.
4. The Center is constructed according to the code of standards set by the Department

1. Existence of a registered voluntary organization.
2. Existence of suitable buildings and space in the possession of that organization which can be used to maintain a Day Care Center.
3. The Center is constructed according to the code of standards set by the Department

Qualifications required to get Registered under the Department for the adoption of a child legally

1. Being a legally married couple.
2. Being permanent residents of the Western Province.
3. The couple having a permanent house and a way of getting permanent revenue. (Minimum monthly revenue should be Rs. 15 000)
4. Being a childless couple
5. Confirmation by a physician stating that the couple is incapable of bearing children. Basic requirements that should be forwarded when enrolling a child to a Child Development Center

Basic requirements that should be forwarded when enrolling a child to a Child Development Center

Only children under 18 who are either orphaned, deserted, destitute or abused would be enrolled to the Child Development Centers.

Documents that should be forwarded

• Birth Certificate of the child.
• Death Certificates of parents if they are dead.
• if the child has been deserted, Police Report and the Grama Niladhari report stating that.
