Eligibility
Any Manufacturer who has obtained Pattern approval for Measuring Instruments.
Note: Every weight measure or weighing or measuring instrument manufactured by a person or institution holding a Certificate of Registration should be approved by the Inspector.
Disqualification Criteria
The Manufacturing license will be cancelled for following reasons:
- Upon the death of the Manufacturer
- On his resignation from the institution
- On the determination that the manufacturer is in incapable of performing the functions of his office by means of his illness or mental or physical infirmity.
*The manufacturing license will also be cancelled once a Manufacturing company closes down its operations.
Submission Procedure
Obtain an application form
The applicant would receive the Application Form via mail after receiving the Pattern approval.

Hand over Application Form
The applicant is initially required to prepare and send a request letter indicating what is being Manufactured and the Company/Manufacturer name.
After the applicant receives Pattern Approval, he/she must fill the application form and submit it to the Department.

Working Hours :-8.30 am to 4.15 pm
Holidays :-All Public and Mercantile holidays
Step-by-Step Procedure:
Step 1: Manufacturer sends a request letter to the Department stating what is being manufactured and the Company/Manufacturer name.
Step 2: A field visit is then done by the District Inspector who prepares a workshop report. District Inspector conducts a field inspection and prepares the Workshop Report.
Step 3: Inspector forwards workshop report to the Department
Step 4: If the Inspector has approved the workshop report the Department informs the manufacturer via letter to bring the sample.
Step 5: The Manufactures brings the sample and it is checked by the Department.
Step 6: Once the Pattern is approved, the Department sends the Application Form to the Manufacturer via mail.
Step 7: The Manufacturer then fills the Application Form, pastes the paid stamp and sends it via mail or by physically visiting the Department.
Step 8: The Department then Issues the manufacturing certificate.
Note 1: If the inspector does not indicate approval in the workshop report, the Department would inform the Manufacturer the reason for disapproval and would advise the applicant on making amendments after which he/she could reapply.
Note 2: If the Department disapproves the Pattern, a discussion between the Director and the party concerned will be held regarding making amendments to the instrument and would enable reapplication after the required changes are done.
Note 3: If any amendments are made to a Pattern approved measuring instrument, the Manufacturer must obtain a new Registration Certificate from the Department.

Validity Timeline : Valid only for a period of one year after which the license must be renewed. Only the stamp fee should be paid.
