Requirements:

·         Under the provisions of the Animal feed Act No.15 of 1986 & 2016, licenses should be obtained from the Registrar/Animal Feed, the Department of Animal Production & Health prior to manufacture or import animal feed/feed ingredients.

Applications are available: For registration as a manufacturer/ Importer, there is an application available under the animal feed act..

Applications can be obtained from The Registrar(Animal Feed),Veterinary Regulatory unit, Department of Animal Production and Health

Fee for the application: For registration Rs 1000/= will be charged at the time of submission of the each application

Time of submission:

• From 8.30 a.m to 4.15 p.m during the office hours of the weekdays.
• Can be submitted during the office hours. It would be more suitable if the document is to be submitted subsequently a discussion with the Register (Animal Feed) regarding its accuracy.

Service charge: None

Duration takes at providing the service:

After submitting the application, your application will be evaluated and the team will visit to inspect your feed manufacturing place (plant) to see the facilities available to ascertain the facilities are sufficient to produce quality animal feed. If the facilities are inadequate, your application may be disqualified. If the facilities can improve, provisional registration will be granted with suggestions. With the improvements, registration will be confirmed.  This will take approximately 2 months.These registrations need to be renew annually.  

The manufacturers already registered will be given the priority to produce extra animal feed which were approved. For that, it would take 1-7 days.

Required certificates:

Business registration, Any GMP, ISO certificates to feed manufacturing plant, labels of manufacturing animal feeds with required information

 Staff Officers in charge of the services:

Alternatives or circumstances other than the above requirements and specific information: Alternative circumstances are not occurred hence the duties executed relate to the regulations of the Act.
