Lost of Pass Book
- Inform the Branch in writing
- Obtain relevant formats, complete and return to the Branch.
Lost of Bank Draft/Pay Order/Fixed Deposit Receipt
- Inform relevant branch in writing
- Complete relevant indemnity and request for a fresh Draft/Pay Order/ Fixed Deposit Receipt
Lost of ATM/VISA and Credit Card
- Immediately inform to the Bank to stop the card in writing with Signature by fax.
- Make complaint to the Police
- Submit new application for new card.
Lost of Safe Deposit Locker’s Keys
- Inform the Branch in writing
- Replace the key at the cost of the customer
Lost of Inward Foreign Draft
Inform the receiving Bank in writing with the following details
- Draft No.
- Amount
- Name of issuing Bank
- Copy of receipt issued by Issuing Bank.
Lost of Traveller’s Cheques
- Inform the Bank where it purchased
- Copy of purchased receipt must be submitted
In the Event of Death of an Account Holder:
Individual A/C
If value of deceased’s estate is below Rs.500,000/- Obtain the relevant format from the Bank and submit along with the following documents:
- Certificate of Death
- Certificate of Marriage
- Birth Certificates of children
- Birth Certificates of Parents, brothers, sisters if deceased was in state of single.
- Balance in the account distributed among heirs subject to law governed the deceased.
- Kandyan law
- Roman Dutch Law
- Muslim Law
- Thesawalami Law
If value of deceased estate is more than Rs.500,000/- Testamentary proceeding under Civil law must be followed:
In the Event of Death of a Joint Account Holder
Survivor is entitled to the balance standing in the account.Withdrawal from Savings Account in the event of account holder is Hospitalized –Signature of the withdrawal must be certified by the Doctor
Opening of Account to Blind Person
- Can be opened jointly with a close relative Weather money can be withdrawn/deposited to an account at a branch other than the branch whose account is maintained
- Can be withdrawn/deposited at any branch of the bank since all branches are inter-linked through computer network.
Liability of Guarantors:
In the event of default of the borrower, liability of guarantor is also as same as liability of borrower.
Effect of Crossing of “Account Payee only”
Proceeds of the cheques can be collected only to the payee’s account
