State Drama Festival is organized annually to evaluate and appreciate good creations and the relevant creators after choosing qualitative and creative dramas which give an impetus for the progress and advancement of Sinhala Drama.
Qualifications and Conditions
With the approval of Public Performance Board for a period from 01st of January to 31st December of every year, any drama shown in any hall or in any part of the island for a minimum duration of one hour or maximum duration of 02 hours (apart from interval).

After completion of application form send same to the following address with well-compiled? copy of drama you have already produced or if it is not your self-made drama, a copy of Sinhala version along with clear pictures of foreign drama before the closing? date of application? to reach

Copies of script can be handed over personally or by registered post.
Copies of Drama? must be prepared on one side of A4 paper – either typed or computerized? (Summary of Drama script and character introduction to be included separately and in clear forms.If the Drama script is forwarded with your own hand writing – manuscript should be clear and tidy.
An application can be obtained from the Department of Cultural Affairs, 8th Floor, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla.
No fee will be charged for application
A day prior to the closing date of drama creations appearing in newspapers – Drama scripts can be forwarded during working hours.
No fee will levied for services rendered.
Does not arise.
In order to prove and confirm that the premier show of the drama in question was held within that year; one of the following documents must be presented with the application to prior validity.
i. Posters used for the premier show
ii.Tickets
iii. Newspaper advertisements
iv. Commemorative Magazines
v. Cash receipts issued by Provincial Council or Halls
When a Drama is selected for State Drama Festival and if the script writer or translator is not the producer of the drama, a letter to the Secretary, State Drama Panel, should be forwarded with your consent to follow the rules and regulations of State Drama Festival and a list giving the names of all artistes participating in the Drama (as Schedule II).
Director of Cultural Affairs, Deputy Director of Cultural Affairs, Asst. Director, Cultural Assistant Director (Secretary, National Drama Panel) will serve as Staff Officers in-charge.
