Identification of Ancient Irrigation Technology, Research and Assurance

PDF Print Email

Supremacy of irrigation technology in ancient Sri Lanka could compete with any ancient civilization of the world. The advanced knowledge the ancient Sri Lankan possessed to collect mass of water between 2 lands of high elevation by gaining them and also to erect canals and anicuts having constructed the tank bunt according to the contour lines cannot be matched with any other civilization of the world. Today there are more than 34000 large tanks and rural tanks with large number of canals and anicuts. We identity and conserve this heritage and preserve it for future generation.
