Procedure for submitting samples

The samples should be delivered to the Government Analyst’s Department through the Public Health Inspector (PHI) of the area.

Sample Receiving Time Weekdays 8.30 am - 3.45 pm
Service Charge
  • PHI - Free of Charge
  • Consumer affairs authority - Rs 1800/= per sample
  • SriLanka Customs - Charges will be depend on the type of sample
  • Food Control Administration Unit - Charges will be depend on the type of sample
Time taken to provide the service Within 03 months

When you submit the following food sample, please consider the followings,


For salt : - submit un open packet for analysis
For bread:- submit air tightly packed bread within 24 hours from collected time before Friday 12.00 noon
For Milk powder: - submit un open packet or analysis
For Row milk :- submit the sample from Monday to Thursday and get prior permission to bring the sample for analysis .If you add any preservatives please mention on the covering letter.
