1.By, now necessary measures have been taken to amend the children and young persons Ordinance. Accordingly, three(03) workshops covering all the provinces, have been conducted in three(03) places, with the object of obtaining the view and suggestions from offcers dealing with this Ordinance. Probation officers, Child Rights Promotion Officers of the department of Probation and childcare services, Balice officers, Labour Officers and District co-ordinating officers of the National Child protection Authority who particulars at these workshop have submitted their view and suggestions on this subject.

In addition, a workshop was held for children in conflict with law and those children who
need protection and care and relevant suggestions on this proposed amendment have been
obtained.

As the next step, a workshop at national level is scheduled to be conducted and views
and suggestions from officers concerned ,with be obtained so as to amend this Ordinance
as early as possible.

2.Necessary measures have been taken and a copies of draft amendment to children’s Homes ordinance have been sent to all the provincial councils. By the department of Probation Child Care Services. the Western Provincial council has already approved it and implemented it in the Western Province.
