Having provided consultancy services as the local counterpart in the Accelerated Mahaweli Development Programme, CECB inherited highly motivated engineers with their exposure to the latest technology in the field of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. Upon completion of the Mahaweli Project CECB diversified its services to Structural Engineering Designs to cater for the demand in the construction industry. In the late 1980’s with the formation of the Structural Design unit, CECB was geared to undertake innovative structural designs such as shell type structures etc. Undertaking the structural design of “Mahaweli Maha Seya” was a great opportunity to exhibit our talents in structural engineering. When there are limits to land extent we start searching for the limits in the sky in fulfilling the requirements of our clients. Having successfully completed the fourteen storied building with three basements and 14m deep excavation in the heart of the city of Colombo for the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, CECB reached a new height in the arena of building designs as that was one of the few multi-storied buildings which was handled by local consultants on their own. In the present context, being in the 21st Century we have acquired advancement in the modern technology and CECB is capable of providing a state of the art consultancy services in Structural Engineering Designs for the next generation of sustainable, super tall buildings and mega structures in developing our motherland to be the “Wonder of Asia”.
