1929 Child Line Sri Lanka - LISTEN, RESPOND & REHABILITATE

1929 Child line Sri Lanka was established by National Child Protection Authority in July 2010, to be the foremost point of contact for vulnerable and victimized children who need help. The service is free, confidential, and offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone from across the island and provides an easy access. 1929 responds not only to the victimized children but also links them to appropriate services for their long-term care and rehabilitation.
1929 plays a unique and important role in being privy to the true voices of children in Sri Lanka and guaranty these children are safe and receive respect, nutrition and support entitled to them by the government, law and allied systems.

 

Who do we work with?
We work for the protection of the children in general, especially with the more vulnerable and marginalized children in society, which include;
• Children affected by physical/ sexual/ emotional abuse
• Victims of child trafficking
• Children in conflict with law
• Child labourers – domestics in particular
• Children abandoned by parents or guardians
• Children whose families are undergoing/ have undergone traumatic incidents.
• Children who need emotional support and guidance.

How we work
A well-trained staff which understands the processes and Philosophy of 1929 is working directly with children and adults who reach out for help. The officers of our call center share a deep desire to help and improve the lives of vulnerable, marginalized children in Sri Lankan society. When a complaint is lodged by an informant, initial action is taken within 48 hours.
