Importation of Gemstones
Arriving passengers hand carrying gem stones can choose either the expedite procedure or the normal procedure for clearance at the airport.

Expedite Procedure
Passenger elects to declare the value of the gemstones in an Incoming Passenger Declaration form and submits the declaration along with the Gemstone to the Duty Officer (No 1 Officer) at the arrival terminal of the airport and on his direction pays US$200/- at the shroff counter and takes delivery of the parcel.

Normal Procedure
Passenger elects to deposit the gemstones, hand carried by him, with the Duty Officer (No 1 Officer) and receives the Green color Passenger Baggage Detention form. Later he submits that document to the Customs Gem unit at NGJA on which parcel is transferred to the NGJA under Customs supervision. Examination and recovery of taxes is done at the Gem Unit at the NGJA. Service fee will be charged.
