With a view to invigorate Amateur Writers, good collections of Novels, Short-stories, Prose and Poetry, Children stories, Science fictions, Drama Scripts and Picture Stories of high quality and standard will be published in parallel with State Literary Festival held annually. This competition is classified into two sections – Open Manuscript Contest and?Student's manuscript Contest.

Amateur creators, Writers, School children and student Bhikkhus receiving education in Pirivenas from Grade 10 to Grade 13 are eligible to vie for this contest. The manuscript to be submitted should be your own creation, which was not printed in any form in any occasion earlier. Each contestant can submit creations for one or all categories in manuscript contest and only one creation for each contest will be entertained. Creations forward for open competition should be forwarded in A4 papers and number of pages of your contribution should be possess at least 50pages. Children’s Novels, Short-stories books, Science fictions should be (148 x 210 mm) in length with at least 30 pages, Prose/Drama Scripts should be (148 x 210 mm) with at least 16 pages and …stories should be (210 x 295 mm) in length with at least 16 pages in A4 papers will be considered for this contest. The forwarded Art Creation should be drawn by the competitor himself. (Further details appear in the Circular issued annually in this connection)

Circular and the application issued in this connection can be obtained by post with a stamped envelope with name and address posted to the Director of Cultural Affairs, 8th floor, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla.

No fee will be charged for application.

Creations can be posted to reach the addressee before the closing date of applications or can be handed over personally within office hours on weekday.

No fee will be levied for services performed.

Director of Cultural Affairs, Deputy Director of Cultural Affairs, Asst. Director, will serve as Staff Officers in-charge.

The name of the writer should not appear on the Manuscript forwarded to the Department of Cultural Affairs/full copy of manuscript should be kept in your possession to be given to the Department at any moment if it so desires.
