Filing action by legal division in terms of the urban development act
Introduction Provide services (sub-division of lands, constructions and change of use) for the unauthorized development activities carried out in the declared areas of the UDA in terms of Section 3 of the Urban Development Authority Act

Procedure for Submitting Applications
There is no specific application for this but informing by a letter is sufficient. If not, a complaint can be made by either a telegram or a telephone call. It is easy to take action if unauthorized development activities are immediately reported.In this connection it is important to include the name and address of the unauthorized developer. Member of the public can make anonymous complaints as well.
Hours for submitting Complaints in respect of the services mentioned here will be entertained during office hours (9.00 am - 4.00 p.m.)�of the week and on Wednesday of the week,in particular, one can obtain this service by paying a visit to the Legal Division.
Service Charge No charges are made for this service. However, if the Authority is required to bear an enormous cost in removing an unauthorized development activity on the basis of a complaint made, then, with the consent of that complainant, he/she will be notified to share a part of that cost.For activities of this nature,it is compulsory to obtain the approval of the Chairman/Director General of the UDA.
Time taken to provide the service On receipt of a complaint action will be taken without delay and when taking legal action in terms of the provisions of the Act,.it will be completed within a period of three months. However there may be instances where this time period varies according to the dates given by the Courts.
Supporting documents required
When obtaining the above services the complaint itself is enough for the purpose. However, it will be easier if documents available,in proof of the relevant unauthorized development activity are produced.
