As stipulated in the “Mahinda Chinthanaya” Development Programme, the Ministry of Mass Media and Information wishes to grant concessionary credit facilities to local journalists to purchase computers, Motor bicycles and Media equipment through People’s Bank.
Under this Program;

• Motor Bicycles
• Computers
• Cameras
• Fax Machines

Objective
The objective of this project is help enhance the professional aptitudes and skills of the journalists who have been rendering a valuable service towards development of the Government Information.

Target Group
The Journalists/Media personnel who have been accredited by the Department of the Government Information.

Items and Loan Limits

Who can apply ?

• Journalists who have a service of not less than three years in state or private sector media Institution as journalists.
• Freelance journalists with not less than five years of service in the media field.
• Should be between 18-60 years of age.
• Should have a permanent source of income.
• Annual income should not be less than Rs. 144,000.00

Application Procedure
Application should be made on the following format. Duly completed applications should be sent under registered post clearly indicating the expected item on the top left-hand corner of the envelope enclosing the application to receive on or before ………..

Mode of Selection
The eligible loan recipients will be selected by a selection committee appointed by the Secretary of the Ministry Mass Media and Information. As far as possible priority will be given to the applicants from difficult areas. In this case, the decision of the secretay shall be final and conclusive.
