Zero Corruption Desk

Legal Aid Commission has established a Developmental Legal Aid Desk?called the?Anti-Bribery & Corruption Desk. LAC was the first institution to start the anti-corruption programme soon after the Tsunami in order to prevent and eradicate bribery and corruption. The Bureau is headed by Harshani Balaharuwa. She has undergone training in the USAID sponsored ARD programs which includes analyzing of material that has been collected by the sentinels of corruption.

LAC, with the assistance of the ADB, trained and posted lawyers as Sentinels of Corruption in the Tsunami affected areas. We give below the list of names of the sentinel of corruption officers stationed in the LAC Centers:-

LAC jointly with Alternate Disputes Resolution Institute (ADRI) has already conducted 03 day training programs for over 2500 Grama Niladharies and has expanded its anti corruption training component. It has trained 70 professionally trained mediators to liaise with the anti-corruption programs in expanding the knowledge on prevention of corruption within the different areas covered by the LAC.
