Work in Charge

1. Museum is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m on all days except on all Tuesdays and the Sinhala New Year Day.
2. It is possible to visit the museum without an entrance ticket.
3. Museum officers will provide guidance to visitors when visitors need any information.
4. When a person needs information for conducting a research, such person should seek permission from the Director of Museum or Regional Assistant Director.
5. Regional museums maintain sale outlets from where departmental publications can be purchased.
6. Taking photograph or video filming of exhibits is not normally allowed. Those who want to do so for a reasonable cause should obtain written permission of the Director General.
7. The Department provides guidance and know-how to private organizations when they wish to establish museums.
