Programme of children's Clubs Children's Councils

The Department has successfully taken necessary steps to form children’s clubs at village level throughout the country to pave the way required to strengthen the formulation of policy programmes and welfare programmes for children; these programmes are to be based on views and opinions expressed and suggestions made by children at these clubs and those programmes are aimed at ensuring the right of participation of children.

How such a club could be formed?

1.Children in families within a Grama Niladari division could by made to meet with the help of the Grama Niladari concerned. (children in the age group 6-18 years)

2.Children’s clubs could be formed through the CRPO attached to the Divisional Secretariat , conforming to the constitution for children's clubs as laid by this Department.

3.After forming the children’s clubs, the relevant application for registration has to be submitted to this Department through the Divisional Secretary concerned.

4. The department after going through the application, will register the children’s clubs within two weeks, provided that the application conforms to requirements.

To the children’s council, through children clubs

The Divisional Children’s societics are formed with office bearers of all the children clubs at in a Divisional Secretariat Division. The divisional Society children’s clubs is established so, as to include the views of children for administration in Division.

To the District children’s society through the divisional children’s societ.

The District children’s society is constituted with all the office beares of divisional children’s societies in a district. The District children’s society is formed under the guidance and instructions of the District Society in the district concerned. These is a constitution for this as well. Further details could be obtained from the Child Rights Promotion Officers .

To the National children’s council through the district children’s societies

The national children’s council is established at the national level with officer bearers and Activists of all the district children’s societies in the island. It functions under the counseling, guidance and monitoring of the Department of Probation and child care Services.

through this National children's Councils. It is envisaged to express opinion at the national level�and paltical fuld, in respect of the protect ,conduct, development and participation of children.
