Registration of a Death Occurred in a Foreign Country

  1. Inform the Sri Lankan Embassy/ High Commission of the country where the death occurred.
  2. Persons required to give information,
    1. Relation of the dead person
    2. Each person present at the death 
  1. Documents to be submitted
    1. Copy of the passport of the dead person
    2. Certificate of death issued by that country
    3. Transport bills if the cremation is doing in Sri Lanka
    4. Letter issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (if the cremation is doing in Sri Lanka)
  1. The death is registered by the Sri Lankan Embassador / High Commissioner and has to pay the fee recommend by the Sri Lankan Embassy / High Commission of that country..
  2. Certificate of death will issue to the informant free of charge by the Sri Lankan Embassador / High Commissioner.
