Child related Legal support
The National Child Protection Authority provides legal advice and support in the following areas:

  • For child abuse victims and parents
  • Representing victims of child abuse on court orders and supporting the foster parent rights of tsunami affected children in Courts.
  • Coordinating legal support in child labour activities with the Labour Department, awareness and dissemination of Child Rights and Child-related legislation, issues on compulsory education, etc.
  • Video evidence recording of child abuse victims to be submitted to Courts.
  • Conducting awareness programs for police officers on video evidence recording techniques, and related laws


How you can obtain the service
You can have the services of the legal unit through the 1929 child help line, by telephone or by visiting the head office of National Child Protection Authority.
