TARGET GROUP :

Extension personnel attached to crop based institutions and having a minimum of 05 years experience.

OBJECTIVES :

To upgrade the academic status of field personnel by using the following methods in order to enable them to be better equipped in handling crop-based extension programmes in a multi-sectoral rural base

i). Training on all theoretical as well as practical aspects of extension activities

ii). Providing better understanding and wider knowledge of the relevant fields, to identify obstacles/problems and suggest remedial measures.

CONTENTS :

  • Module 1 - Agricultural Science (Basic Botany & Basic Agriculture)
  • Module 2 - Farm and Estate Accounting
  • Module 3 (A) - Crop Production & Processing -Tea
  • Module 3 (B) - Crop Production & Processing - Coconut
  • Module 3 (C) - Crop Production & Processing - Rubber
  • Module 3 (D) - Crop Production & Processing – Sugarcane
  • Module 3 (E) - Crop Production & Processing – Export Agricultural Crops and other Plantation Crops
  • Module 3 (F) - Animal Science and Livestock Development
  • Module 4 - General Management
  • Module 5 - Human Resource Management
  • Module 6 - Agricultural Marketing & Pricing
  • Module 7 - Social-cultural background at the Regional Level
  • Module 8 - Agricultural Extension
  • Module 9 – Dissertation

  • Compulsory Modules : Nos. 01, 02, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08 & 09. Out of Module Nos. 03 (A) to 03 (F), the module relevant to the field of each candidate is also compulsory, while two other modules are optional. Altogether, each candidate is expected to follow 11 Modules.

Duration

18 months -lectures to be conducted in 02 week-ends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) per month

Course Fee

Rs. 85,000/- (inclusive of lectures, course materials, practical sessions and field visits etc.)
