Establishment of Handicrafts Shilpa Development Societies and Shilpa Authorities

Another function carried out by the National Crafts Council is to establish and maintain Handicrafts Shilpa Development Societies and Shilpa Authorities at divisional and district levels with the objective of mobilizing and organizing the handicraftsmen scattered throughout the island. It is expected to mobilize the handicraftsmen at divisional level, develop their organizational capacity, extend technical assistance required for crafts develop skills and entrepreneurial abilities.
