Levying of taxes on Undeveloped Lands

In terms of section 153 of pradeshiya saba act of 1978 the aim of levying these taxed are to discourage of maintenance of undeveloped or uncultivated lands within the area of authority of pradeshiya sabha.

Eligibility
- A land suitable for construction purposes or
- A land which can be cultivated with permanent or seasonal crops or which can be developed for such purpose after spending a reasonable expenditure.
- A land where the extent covered the construction of building is less than the minimum requirement of the pradeshiya saba.

Amount of fee
Pradeshiya sabha will publish the percentage of the tax in the gazette .

Procedure
• The fee of payment will be informed after inspecting the land concerned.
• The fee should be paid.
• If not pay legal action will be taken at the magistrate court against the defaulter.
