The Master Craftsmen Training Scheme is being implemented by the National Crafts Council with the objective of introducing traditional handicrafts to the younger generation to preserve it and directing the unemployed youth and maidens to self
employment to ameliorate their socio economic condition.
Under this programme, craftsmen who are competent in each field of handicrafts are
selected as master craftsmen and knowledge of traditional handicrafts is provided to the
apprentice craftsmen under them and such one training class is conducted from 6 - 12
months as a full time course according to the subject field.
