National Diploma in Plantation Management – ND 01
TARGET GROUP :
Any person who fulfills one of the following qualifications Pass G.C.E. (O/L) with 05 Credit Passes inclusive of Mathematics and English and 02 years experience as an executive in the Plantation Sector
OR
Three years executive experience in any Public/Private Organization related to Plantations
OR
Plantation Executives with 03 years experience
OR
Proprietary planters who have 06 years planting experience
OBJECTIVES :
To upgrade the professional and managerial skills of Plantation Executives towards their career development in the plantation sector.
To improve productivity and quality of management in the plantation sector by enhancing technical and managerial competence.

A refresher module in English will be conducted at the beginning of the course at the request of selected participants
Candidates are required to follow and complete all the above ten (10) modules in order to become eligible for the award of Diploma Certificate.
Duration
Twenty (20) months.
Course Fee
Course fee is Rs. 85,000/- per participant.
This can be paid in three (03) installments.
Medium
English ; only the dissertation can be prepared either in English, Sinhala or Tamil language
Methodology
The programme will be conducted as a distance learning course in order to minimize the disturbances that might happen to the participants in their day- to -day activities.
Written course manuals for each module will be provided to the participants and it is their role to do self study using the manuals. Contact sessions ( day schools) for modules (2-3 contact sessions for each module) will be conducted at NIPM and research stations in order to provide the participants with an opportunity to get clarifications and answers for their doubts and problems.
In case of practical aspects related to tea manufacture etc, the No. of contact sessions will be around 3-4 Modular end examinations will be held at NIPM and the mark allocations for written examination and take-home assignments will be 60% and 40% respectively.
